导演两年前用纪录片《再见，白楼》（《金边白楼的前世今生》）向自己的童年故居致敬。今次有贾樟柯的公司参与制作，他则以剧情片来细说这栋大楼的居民在逼迁前的故事。主角和两位好友每天都在白楼内练舞，希望终有一天可以上电视台参加比赛。眼见白楼面临清拆，他的父亲想尽办法组织居民，向政府争取更合理的赔偿方案。此时死党亦将离开柬埔寨，他发现从前安稳的家园未必能跟上时代的变化。。Steve and Susan Ireland are about to celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary by re-enacting their first date. When Susan's meddling mother interrupts and injures herself. Steve is left to take care of her and when he meets an old flame in the elevator--Susan's mother takes the opportunity to break-up their marriage.
