A young street magician is left to take care of his little sister after his mother's passing and turns to drug dealing in the Los Angeles party scene to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets into trouble with his supplier, his sister is kidnapped and he is forced to rely on both his sleight of hand and brilliant mind to save her。影片发生在孟买的一位野生动物摄影家Ray Acharya（尼尔·尼汀·穆科什 饰）身上，某天，他被告知他的外祖父逝世并留给他了一些遗物，他发现这些遗物中有一个能拍摄到未来的神奇相机，他用这个相机买彩票赚钱并娶了叫Simi Chatterjee（碧帕莎·芭素 饰）的歌手做妻子。很快他就发现他得防范想要得到这架相机的骗子，其中包括一名刺客和一个官员，然而即便他能逃得过阴险的坏人，却始终要面对另一个敌人——死神……。由尉天池先生题写片名的《简牍探中华》以“简牍的前世今生”为线索，围绕里耶秦简、乌程汉简等，以“实地探访+实景戏剧+文化访谈”的方式，带领观众穿越时空探访简牍中蕴含着的中华文脉密码。。
