李翰祥執導的《佛跳牆》共有四個單元，首個故事是描述一對母子因施予濟公一碗豆漿而逃過喪命之危；其二則說濟公幫助賣菜漢，逃離高利貸者的滋擾；其三則寫濟公以櫻桃化夜明珠，將大盜教訓一頓；最末一則是描寫濟公以巧計捉弄胡作非為的相爺父子。李翰祥借濟公的善行，針貶權貴惡霸的種種惡行，為平民大眾吐一口烏氣。。It’s 2011 and we’re in Rome. The government is on the verge of collapse, the Vatican is at crisis point and the city’s squares are quite literally on fire.
